Managing Director, Database Services
Tim Mack, Moser’s Director of Database Practice, took a rather uncommon path into the IT industry, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Science from Purdue University and accepting a job with the U.S. Forest Service right out of college. During his time with the Forest Service, Tim was introduced to databases and database management, which soon became a significant part of his job and planted the seeds of interest in an industry that continued to grow the more he learned. It was Tim’s interest in technology that eventually lured him away from the Forest Service and into the IT industry.
It wasn’t an immediate transition, though. After leaving the forestry service, Tim worked as a forestry consultant which afforded him an opportunity to work on projects with clients in a consultative capacity. After about six years, Tim was able to build a bridge into the IT industry by combining his database management skills and his experience in consulting and came on board with Moser as a consultant in 2000.
Once we began working full time in the IT industry, Tim’s on-the-job learning accelerated to a breakneck pace. He devoured every opportunity to learn new skills and moved up in the company quickly as a result, becoming a Senior Consultant in 2003 and then ascending to his current position in 2006.
During his 16 years in the IT industry, Tim has become an expert in Oracle Database Administration and Data Architect Planning – designing and building systems for clients that their people can understand without having to wade through stacks of documentation.
Tim approaches his work now with the same appetite for learning that he had his first day on the job with Moser. He routinely attends monthly webchats with Oracle, participates in Indiana’s Oracle Users Group, which meets once every quarter, and takes advantage of most every online training program he can find. Tim thrives on the constantly-changing nature of technology and encourages his Database Practices team to continually develop themselves. He knows that the more they know, the better they can provide the breadth and depth of IT expertise that Moser’s clients have come to expect and always deserve.
